Sweaters Sweaters Sweaters!!

Fall has finally arrived to Southern California..we've always been late when it comes to pulling out our sweaters and layering pieces and I'm so happy it's here. I always have the most inspiration to dress up during these months than Summer.

I have these photos of Lara Stone in Vogue US 2010 on my desktop for awhile now..it has been my inspiration to gather cute knits for the store and I'm still collecting more throughout winter as well.

Mid October Update

I've been pretty busy lately...besides running the vintage shop I am also a full time art director/graphic designer at a fashion house. Maybe one day I'll spill the beans of which designer I work for, but for now it'll be hush hush. We had our Spring 2011 runway in New York this past weekend and I've been busy editing down runway photos/backstage/videos to send to press.

It was also LA fashion week this past weekend and I was invited to attend a few presentations during Concept LA. I'm pretty disappointed not being able to make it to any (sorry designers!!), but was quickly cheered up because the Vintage Expo was also happening at the same time. This is a 2-day event that happens twice a year in Santa Monica.

Anyways..here are some of my favorites that are new to the shop!

1. White rabbit fur pom pom scarf (buy now)
2. 1960s Lilli Ann mod swing cape (buy now)
3. 1960s Bobbie Brooks French vanilla day dress (buy now)
4. 1970s Silver blue paisley Victorian dress (buy now)

It's been raining and gloomy all week long and I wasn't able to use any natural light. I've been contemplating whether to use a backdrop for my photos or not..whether if it's distracting or adds a little character than my plain vanilla colored walls. I was trying to go for a shabby chic look, so hopefully it doesn't look too grandma! haha. We'll see how things go.

I definitely need a topper for my mannequin. It was purchased used on ebay and didn't come with one! Just need to swing by Michael's to make some sort of bouquet topper.

October Inspiration

(source: everywhere!)

When the weather gets a little cold, I tend to fall in love with black, navy and brown all over again. Different textures of black have always intrigued me, whether it being sheer, velvet, wool, etc..black inspires me. The color navy is so classic and it looks so good with fall colors. These are just staple colors we all know and love.

I think this season in particular I've been paying attention to other tones as well. Especially burnt orange, spice, cinnamon...reddish hues. Inspired mostly by the 2 photos...

New Blog!

I finally got the courage to break free and start a whole new blog - at last! Most of you probably know me from my former personal style blog, Fashion+Geometry. Well, as of now, I will probably keep both blogs running until I lose my mind or when I feel the need it's time to part ways with F+G. :)

So what does Clover en Rouge mean and what does it offer??
Clover en Rouge is just a prettier, french way of saying Red Clover. It took me awhile to figure out a name that really spoke to me about what I aspire to do - a bit personal, amusing, creative, and fashionable. I've also been an avid collector of vintage, so starting an online vintage boutique to share my love have been on my mind since the beginning of time. I couldn't really see fit on F+G for the style of vintage I was going for, thus I needed to rebrand to continue my fair journey.

There's still much to do here, but just a heads up... Clover en Rouge will offer sneak peaks and store updates as well as creative, fashionable musings and inspirations. The store is pretty hand selected and carefully inspected for quality from the late 20s to early 90s. I only put items up that I would personally wear as well as offer style tips on how to wear the garments. Hopefully it will be as fun and inspiring for you as it will for me!
